Ste Marie refreshes lobby and 1927 Lounge at Rosewood Hotel Georgia

Canadian interior design studio Ste Marie has given new life to the guest lobby and 1927 cocktail lounge at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia, Vancouver.

Infusing it with fresh vibrancy while honouring its storied past, the design recalls the opulence of the roaring twenties. There are nods to the jubilance and elegance that was typical of that time alongside the sense of locality and warmth that is synonymous with the Rosewood name.

The heartbeat of this project lies in the revival of the lobby lounge. Ste Marie blends vintage inspiration with contemporary eclectic flair. Think moody marbles, plush velvets, warm saturated woods to punches of colourful textile.

Anchored by a new cocktail bar, the lobby lounge now offers an expanded variety of comfortable, intimate seating areas, inviting guests to linger.

A full complement of bespoke custom furnishings produced by artisan makers in Europe hold up the designs. Rich fluted wood detailing offsets embedded brass scrollwork and is finished with soft upholsteries in crushed velvets and rich leathers. These seating areas aim to cocoon the guests within a backdrop of unique archival objects and a diverse, nationally eclectic art collection.

Dramatic Arabescatto Orobico and Honey Onyx stonework and bronze details add a contemporary counterpoint to the vintage mahogany wall paneling, marble checkerboard floors and ornate crystal fixtures, paying homage to the hotel’s illustrious past and serving to transport guests to an era of sophistication and charm.
