Shinola Hotel has joined forces with real estate company Bedrock on its ‘Decked Out Detroit’ project – a four-month initiative supporting businesses with safe shopping, dining and entertainment activations in downtown Detroit.
Located in Detroit’s historic Woodward shopping district, the luxury design brand’s 129-key property, which features food and beverage concepts from award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini, is offering a two-day itinerary with accommodation.
Visitors can experience the city’s downtown retail pop-up shops, ice skating, drive-in movie experience and authentic Italian cuisine as Shinola’s San Morello restaurant, amongst other dining venues.
San Morello has been adapted for safe outdoor dining and features a partially enclosed pergola and heater inside customised ‘Birdy Boxes’. Inspired by the coastal towns of Southern Italy and Sicily, chef Andrew Carmellini serves up wood-fired dishes, pizzas and house-made pastas using local, seasonal ingredients.
Launched at the end of December Decked Out Detroit was established to support retail and dining tenants through the winter months and revolves around restaurants in the downtown area opening up safe outdoor dining areas.
