Rafael Cagali’s Da Terra launches chef’s table experience
Michelin-starred chef Rafael Cagali has launched Na Mesa, a 10-seat private chef’s table experience as an extension of his restaurant Da Terra within the Town Hall Hotel.
Na Mesa is Da Terra’s first chef’s table occupying an elegant private room with an adjoining bedroom that can be exclusively reserved overnight.
Na Mesa, which translates from Portuguese to “On the Table”, pays homage to the chef’s native Brazil, offering diners an immersive space to further discover Rafael’s playful and intricate cooking style. Upon arrival, guests will be welcomed by a dedicated chef and a member of the front of house who will be on hand throughout the meal to further guide diners through the evening’s menu and drink pairing options.
As diners watch on, chefs prepare snacks and dishes – which revolve around nostalgic interpretations of Rafael’s culinary journey – in Na Mesa’s open kitchen telling anecdotes and stories behind each dish along the way. Every course offers a deeply personal and original insight into the philosophy that underpins Da Terra, making use of traditional Brazilian ingredients. Dishes on the menu include Middle White Pork, Morel Feijoada, Endive, Cavolo Nero, and Moqueca Aged Turbot, Manteiguinha Beans, Farofa.
Dishes will be accompanied by a selection of wines or house-made soft pairings that revitalise surplus ingredients from the kitchen chosen by Da Terra’s head sommelier, Maria Boumpa. In addition, an exclusive selection of champagne cuvées and digestives from Da Terra’s cellar can be made available only upon request.
The intimate space, which has pops of colour taken from Brazil’s landscape, will be decorated with art pieces exclusively curated for the space. Na Mesa is Rafael’s tribute to his homeland, building on Da Terra’s signature offering of exceptional dining and immersive storytelling in a new and refined way.
