The Punch Room at The Barcelona Edition, located in the heart of the city’s El Born district, is bidding adieu to the soaring temperatures of summer with a revamped autumn menu and a series of exclusive, one-night only events featuring some of the world’s best mixologists.

Kicking off on 20 September with a takeover from Hideyuki Saito, head bartender at The Tokyo Toranmon Edition’s Gold Bar, the maestro will present a menu rich in Japanese flavours plus cocktails including the Tokyo Blueberry, the Goma Moon Sour, and the Yaki Tokyo Banana – a clarified milk punch inspired by the famous and beloved Tokyo Banana confectionery. A curated selection of Asian-inspired bites like eggplant miso, ponzu oysters, karaage, and katsu sando will be served to complement.

The following month, Jean Trinh of Alquímico in Cartagena brings his distinct blend of considered hospitality and sustainability to the speakeasy-style surrounds of the Punch Room. Winner of the Altos Bartenders’ Bartender Award at The World’s 50 Best Bars in 2022, Trinh is as renowned for his commitment to community as his high-octane antics behind the bar. He’ll be in town on 24 October to showcase his many-layered skills.

Meanwhile, the venue’s invigorated menu will continue to pay homage to punch, but with new takes on the old classic. The Navio Punch blends cachaça, pineapple, and aromatic notes of angostura and chamomile in tribute to the maritime routes chartered by Portuguese explorers; the Coastal Punch, crafted with Brugal 1888 Rum, Amaro Montenegro, Palo Cortado Sherry, grapefruit sherbet, green tea, egg white, angostura bitters and citrus, transports you to the vibrant shores of the Caribbean; and the Midnight Punch offers a sustainable twist on the classic Espresso Martini – combining cold brew coffee, vodka, with a subtle hint of agave. A selection of appetisers including Iberian ham croquettes, a Catalan cheeseboard, and cheese and vegan burgers will be served to accompany.
