Portrait Milano launches cake concept inspired by Ferragamo shoe designs
Portrait Milano, part of the Lungarno Collection, introduces Cake Couture, a new food concept that fuses the world of luxury fashion with pastry artistry.
The hotel’s Pastry Chef Cesare Murzilli has drawn inspiration from six iconic archive shoe designs by Salvatore Ferragamo, reinterpreting them as intricate cakes. Served at Portrait Milano’s 10_11 Bar Giardino Ristorante, each cake pays homage to Ferragamo’s designs from the 1930s to 1950s, now housed at the Ferragamo Museum in Florence.
Murzilli’s reimaginings include Dama, a vibrant, hand-coated cake inspired by Ferragamo’s eclectic use of colour, and Rainbow, a bold, layered dessert recalling the designer’s innovative cork heels.
Avanguardie honours Ferragamo’s visionary wedge designs with a modern tart, while Damigella, inspired by a 1957 Sophia Loren boot, blends cocoa and coffee for a stunning taste experience. The Iride cake replicates Ferragamo’s signature lace details, and Argo showcases intricate hand-decoration techniques in a contemporary pâtisserie.
