Jöro 2.Ö to launch at Oughtibridge Mill

Jöro, the Nordic and Japanese-inspired restaurant will open within the Oughtibridge Paper Mill development in 2025.

The new dining destination, Jöro 2.Ö, is in a renovated 19th-century paper mill nestled in the Don Valley, on the edge of the Peak District. This expansion allows co-owners Luke French and Stacey Sherwood-French to elevate the restaurant concept which was previously housed within modern shipping container at Krynkl, Kelham Island.

This move marks a milestone for Jöro, which has been reimagined to offer its signature flagship dining experience alongside two bars, an all-day dining terrace, outdoor BBQ kitchen concept, seven boutique rooms and a deli shop.

Jöro 2.Ö will stay true to its original approach, applying modern techniques to quality local ingredients and drawing inspiration from Japanese and Nordic culinary traditions.

Signature tasting menus come alongside a terrace menu that will showcase live-fire cooking — a nod to Jöro’s hallmark cooking techniques — using birch wood and charcoal. Highlights include Grilled Scottish Scallops, Salt-Aged Yorkshire Beef Rump Cap and Whole Teriyaki Quail. Basque Blueberry Cheesecake and Yuzu Meringue Pie are on the dessert menu.

The site will also offer five studio rooms and two one-bedroom apartments. Designed by French and Sherwood-French, the rooms are Scandi-inspired, offering views of the Peak District border, and will include a kitchen, en-suites and homemade continental style breakfasts delivered to the room.

Elsewhere, shöp by Jöro offers a carefully curated deli offering specialty ingredients, such as barrel-aged soy sauce and Jöro’s house-made wine and gin.

“We’re incredibly excited to finally open the doors to our new home in January. This move has been years in the making, and we’ve poured so much thought into creating a space that elevates the Jöro experience,” says French. “The additional space means we can expand our offerings with the terrace, bars, and more, giving guests an array of ways to experience Jöro.”

“As soon as we saw the site, we knew it was the perfect place for Jöro 2.Ö. It’s an incredible blend of natural beauty and industrial heritage, just 10 minutes from the city,” Sherwood-French adds. “We can’t wait to welcome guests to this amazing space and showcase everything we’ve been working on.”
