Café Carmellini launches at The Fifth Avenue Hotel
The Fifth Avenue Hotel has officially launched Café Carmellini, an Italian and French signature restaurant from Chef Andrew Carmellini.
Chef Carmellini is making his return to fine dining, using his 30-year New York City career to craft a new culinary experience at The Fifth Avenue Hotel. The chef’s food marries Italian and French cooking with a classic New York feel and a modern twist.
Chef Carmellini’s menu draws on many sources of inspiration, from New York itself to his family history – the restaurant’s name is a nod to the family coffee importing business, which thrived in Tuscany for 120 years. Some dishes are classics reimagined, while others are fresh approaches to dishes the chef has cooked for many years.
The wine program is curated by Master Sommelier Josh Nadel, and features a comprehensive 1,800-bottle wine list with producers from around the globe.
Designed by Martin Brudnizki’s studio, the restaurant’s main dining room sees the landmark building’s original Neoclassical architecture filled with maximalist interiors. Design details include two grand sculptural trees, rich blue and yellow seating and private balconies, alongside a carefully curated art collection.
