Anne-Sophie Pic launches pop-up dining experience in the Mauritius
Anne-Sophie Pic, the most decorated Michelin-starred female chef in the world, is bringing her acclaimed style of fine dining to the Mauritius this season.
The French culinary star has teamed up with One&Only Le Saint Géran to launch a pop-up experience at the luxury hotel’s in-house restaurant Prime, which will run from 10 October through to March 2023.
Named La Dame de Pic at Prime, the pop-up will see Pic fuse her signature culinary style with authentic and local ingredients sourced from the island. The exclusive one-off menu will incorporate ingredients such as coconut, hibiscus, hearts of palm and more. Highlights include grilled octopus and foie gras, bouillabaisse jelly served with heart of palm salad and lobster bisque served in a coconut infused with Chamarel rhum. There will also be confit leg of lamb with roasted eggplant and saffron gel and marinated ‘coeur de boeuf’ tomato, burrata and smoked vanilla chantilly.
“One&Only Le Saint Géran is a place I hold very dear to my heart, having spent my honeymoon here almost 20 years ago,” said the chef in a statement. “It brings me great joy, having come full circle, to be working with the extraordinary culinary team at the resort on a dining experience that will showcase the very best of authentic Mauritian flavours and ingredients.”
Pic, who currently holds no fewer than nine Michelin stars, has developed her lauded culinary style on the basis that each creation should conjure a different flavour-based emotion; some of them strong, some delicate, some smooth, some bitter.
One&Only Le Saint Géran is positioned on its own private peninsula, bordered by coral reefs on one side and tropical flora on the other. It is this landscape, and the aromatic complexity of the lush produce found on the island, that inspired Anne-Sophie to curate a menu bursting with the textures and tastes reflecting the local terroir. The overall culinary experience at the resort is led by resort’s Executive Chef Dwayne Cheer.
