Alila Villas Uluwatu has unveiled an elegant new addition to its F&B offering in the form of Batique Whiskey & Cigar, the only independent whiskey bar in Bali’s Uluwatu region.
Housing one of the most extensive collections of single malt whiskies on the Indonesian island, the intimate venue features a custom-designed U-shaped bar crafted by local artisans, as well as an eclectic mix of leather sofas, bar stools and the teak tables that are a Bali design staple. Almost 2,000 batik tjaps – handmade copper stamps originally from Java that are precisely cut, shaped and soldered into classic hand-drawn batik patterns – adorn the walls.
In addition to its extensive range of whiskies, the bar offers guests the chance to expand their palettes via a specially curated ‘Whisky journey’ tasting experience guided by Batique’s resident whisky sommelier, who takes them through a sampling of impeccable selections spanning different ages and regions. Also on the menu are original whisky-based cocktails, as well as a selection of classic cocktails, spirits and wines.
Designed to exist in harmony with its natural surroundings, Alila Villas Uluwatu has embraced environmentally sustainable design (ESD) principles and is the first resort in Indonesia to receive the highest level of certification from EarthCheck as a Best Practice Building Planning and Design (BPDS) development.
