The Newt in Somerset has launched its own range of fine cider created on-site, including Fine Rosé Cyder.
Rekindling the golden age of cider-making in the mid-18th Century, The Newt’s new drinks are inspired by the gentry of this time who drank it from champagne flutes.
Made with 100% apple juice, Fine Rosé Cyder is the first of its kind in the UK. Fuelled by a passion to innovate whilst showcasing Somerset’s heritage, the team at The Newt are encouraging people to appreciate the beverage in the same way they do wine.
Cellar Master Greg Carnell and his team of Cider Makers, Paul Ross and Dominic Glover, are pioneering the art of West Country cider production, fusing creativity and know-how to create the range.
With a lower alcohol percentage at 7.6% and reduced sugar content, its candy pink colour comes from the Red Love apple variety created in Switzerland.
Using the same cold fermentation processes that is used for wine, the cider is presented with suggested food pairings to match.
In limited supply with only 2,400 bottles of 2019 vintage, the cider has a fresh summer feel with notes of strawberry on the nose, hints of summer fruit and natural acidity.
