Champagne Gosset launches Celebris Rose 2008
Champagne Gosset has launched Gosset Celebris Rosé 2008, the fourth edition of the limited-release vintage collection to be released in the past 25 years.
In a full, expansive expression of the Gosset spirit, Celebris marks four centuries of masterful craftsmanship in the art of vinification, blending and ageing exceptional crus. The vintage collection also acknowledges the role of time in the production of champagne, from shaping the identity of a terroir to carving the character of the vintage over a decade in the cellar.
Gosset Celebris is only ever produced during exceptional harvest years, which are few and far between. The decision to make a Celebris is made at harvest time, when the must undergoes a series of blind tastings for texture, freshness, minerality, depth, structure, and longevity, which also determine the direction of the cuvée.
The year 2008 saw complex climatic conditions; as such the unique personality of this vintage stems from the weather conditions at the time of the harvest, which took place in dry, sunny weather that cooled off at night. The result is elegant, lively, and structured wines with a strong potential for maturation.
Beyond a champagne, Gosset Celebris Rosé 2008 is the result of a meticulous choice of terroirs and a unique blending to reveal the ultimate expression of Gosset’s trademark style.
Gosset’s Cellar Master Odilon de Varine reveals: “It has taken thirteen years of work to strike the right balances with this cuvée.”
The latest addition to the range – Celebris Rosé 2008 – embodies the house’s unique expertise in choosing and blending terroirs to perfection.
Gosset Celebris Rosé 2008 is crystal-clear with a luminous coppery shade due to its long ageing in cellars. Made from 72% Chardonnay and 28% Pinot Noir, of which 8% is red wine, the cuvée showcases aromas of strawberry jam lifted by spices and a touch of menthol, lingering with ripe summer fruits.
On the palette, the crystal-clear copper-toned cuvée offers a full-bodied tautness, with accords of ripe black cherry shot through with a blood orange note that provides a tangy freshness.
The 2008 rosé pairs well with mushrooms, foie gras, poultry, lobster, strawberries and citrus fruit.
