The founders of tableware and chef supplies business G&G Goodfellows have launched their own independent F&B venture, Taste Club, a spirit box delivery service.
Built on the ethos that food + drink = happiness, Valda and her husband Paul Goodfellow joined forces with Liam Goodfellow and Georga Spottiswood to create a series of boxes comprising spirits, mixers, small snacks and recipes from some of the UK’s top chiefs and mixologists.
Launched in April in response to consumers spending a significant amount of time at home due to lockdown restrictions, the gin, rum and vodka boxes have been put together to help consumers create memories at home.
“We already had the plans to launch late summer but when Covid-19 hit it seemed like the perfect opportunity to hit the B2C market,” says Valda Goodfellow.
“We are insanely passionate about food and drink and working with quality brands. Having always worked in the food, drink and hospitality industry, Paul and I felt it was hugely important that we tried to help save some of the amazing businesses that were facing closure or had had their cash flow wiped out due to Covid-19,” she adds.
Partnering with craft spirit brands such as Hepple Gin, Cloven Hoof Spiced Rum and Durham Vodka, the boxes feature a full bottle of craft spirit, two mixers, ready-to-eat snacks and recipes from acclaimed chefs including Jason Atherton, Ben Tish and Adam Handling. While masters of mixology Monica Berg and Ryan Chetiyawardana, provide recipe cards for classic cocktails that can be made from home.
“Our aim is to inspire the nation’s palates and engage them with the best craft producers out there. To help them have a great night-in at home and to help them discover amazing food and drink, explains Valda Goodfellow.”
Taste Club Boxes are £40. To buy a box, artisan products, or to get cocktail ideas for mixologists and recipes from the top chefs, visit the Taste Club website here.
