Word of Coffee is preparing to welcome more than 400 exhibitors and 10,000 attendees to Copenhagen next month.

The event, which is Europe’s premier coffee trade show, will take place in the Danish capital’s Bella Center exhibition space from 27-29 June 2024, following a successful 2023 edition in Athens, Greece.

“Copenhagen is a global leader in culture, quality of life, sustainability, and the arts, and the beautiful Danish capital is also renowned for its refined specialty coffee culture and approach to business, technology, design, and trade,” says Yannis Apostolopoulos, Chief Executive Officer of the event’s organiser, the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). “This year’s event is set to be bigger and better than ever, with more show features and exhibitors – a reflection of the continued growth of our industry. As we prepare to unfold this remarkable chapter in the European specialty coffee story, we extend an enthusiastic invitation to all who are passionate about the future of the global specialty coffee industry. Let’s come together, share experiences, and fuel the momentum that propels our industry forward.”

This year’s edition will feature a full programme of events, including a ‘Best New Product’ competition, the Coffee Design Awards, a series of SCA lectures and workshops, and four World Coffee Championships: the 2024 World Latte Art Championship (WLAC), World Coffee in Good Spirits Championship (WCIGS), World Coffee Roasting Championship (WCRC) and the Cezve/Ibrik Championship. New for 2024 is a Retail Buyers’ Lounge designed as a designated space for lobal coffee retail industry professionals to take part in skill-sharing, learning, and networking, as well as Green Coffee Connect, an initiative that will champion fostering inclusive business relationships within the coffee industry through learning experiences and forging valuable connections.

Sustainability will once again be at the forefront of World of Coffee: the SCA has employed a sustainable event strategy to reduce the environmental impact of the event since 2012, which has included the purchase of carbon offsets. This year, the organisation is joining forces with Caravela Coffee to take decisive action in supporting producers facing environmental challenges, directing financial support to coffee farmers in Latin America who will plant native trees that contribute to soil health, reduce erosion, and sequester carbon. SCA is also working to create an innovative offset strategy for its trade shows.
