Goodfellows’ creative plating competition spotlights rising talent

Goodfellows has launched Plated, a new creative plating competition designed to shine a spotlight on rising culinary talent.

Aimed at the UK’s young up-and-coming chefs, and run in association with TRUEfoods and Costa Nova, the competition supports the future of the hospitality industry by giving young chefs a platform to get noticed.

With a prize fund worth £10,000, Plated offers a unique opportunity for chefs to showcase their skills on a national stage.

Entries are now closed, and talented chefs from across the UK have submitted their best-plated food photos and videos. Next, the judges will select six finalists to compete in a live cook-off at the end of April 2025 at the TRUEfoods Development Kitchen in Ripon, North Yorkshire – an event that will be streamed live on social media.

The esteemed judging panel includes Chef Jason Atherton, Spencer Metzger, culinary creative and Executive Head Chef at Row on 5, Mitch Mitchell of TrueFoods, and Valda & Paul Goodfellow, hospitality experts and founders of G&G.

The winner will take home a cash prize of £7,500, an expenses-paid visit to Costa Nova’s manufacturing plant in Portugal, a decorated trophy plate presented by Costa Nova, dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant in Portugal, and a feature in the new Portfolio 7 brochure following a professional photoshoot.
