AHEAD Americas has revealed the top hotel F&B destinations in the region at its 2022 awards ceremony at Weylin in Brooklyn.
The 2022 edition of the Awards for Hospitality Experience & Design results recognised conceptual, aesthetic and functional breakthroughs across the Americas.
Nearly Ninth at Arlo Midtown was crowned the winner of the Bar, Club or Lounge category. Conceptualised by Gerber Group and designed by Meyer Davis, the rooftop bar is characterised by a muted colour palette comprising shades of grey and monochrome artwork, whilst sage furnishings and gold lighting accents are utilised to create a sense of “layered materiality”. The judging panel praised the result as “beautifully balanced”, creating a “calming, inviting and sophisticated” space.
The Restaurant award was scooped up by the recently renovated Dowling’s at The Carlyle. Following an extensive restoration executed by tonychi studio, the iconic Dowling’s at The Carlyle has shed its former décor in favour of a sleeker supper club look, described by the judges as “a visual feast peppered with rich detailing”. Featuring copper cocktail trolleys, printed leather tabletops and gallery walls dotted with vintage Bemelmans prints, the space exudes the glamour and charm of 1940’s New York and injects new life into the beloved Upper East Side haunt, praised by the panel as “a step back into history seen through a fresh lens”.
The winners, who took home bespoke trophies in hand-blown glass, designed and manufactured by Lasvit, will go on to compete against other regions. The worldwide champions will be crowned at the next AHEAD Global edition.
