London has welcomed its newest luxury hideaway, in the form of the converted Edwardian manor The Twenty Two. Located on Grosvenor Square, the venue houses 31 bedrooms and suites, an all-day neighbourhood restaurant and private members’ club.
“My ambition for The Twenty Two was to create a space where the creative and the curious, in London and globally, can come together and feel welcome; a living room of sorts where guests feel inspired and at home in their surroundings,” says proprietor Navid Mirtorabi.
Drawn to the Parisian feel of the building’s exterior, Mirtorabi chose to partner with Natalia Miyar Atelier to bring his vision to life, on what will be her first hotel. The duo looked to 18th century classical French design to inspire the property’s interior, reinterpreted for the modern guest through rich, playful textures and custom upholstered pieces. Luxurious touches such as gold fringing, velvet piping and bevelled mirrors feature throughout.
The onsite restaurant offers an all-day menu of British classics with a Mediterranean twist, spearheaded by Executive Chef Alan Christie, previously of Arbutus and restaurant group Picture. For breakfast, Christie has interpreted modern-day classics, while lunch and dinner menus will change seasonally. Highlights include Devonshire crab salad, chargrilled grass-fed ribeye and desserts such as almond cake with poached pear and clotted cream, house-made ice creams and sorbets, as well as smoothies, fresh juices and protein shakes served throughout the day.
“I wanted to create a restaurant where the menus flow harmoniously from breakfast to lunch to dinner, made up of dishes that evoke a subtle, comforting familiarity, some light and fresh, some indulgent, but all executed to the highest standards and with the best quality, seasonal ingredients,” says Christie.
Managing Director Darius Namdar, formerly of Corbin & King, Chiltern Firehouse and Mark’s Club, adds: “Our vision is to instil a more playful side to Mayfair. We want everyone who passes through The Twenty Two to experience exceptional service, be greeted with a smile and, most importantly, feel welcome and accepted, whilst enjoying the best hospitality London has to offer.”
Split across the ground and lower ground floor, The Club at The Twenty Two is reserved for patrons and hotel guests only. The space features an all-day area called The Living Room and outdoor terrace overlooking Grosvenor Square, The Dining Room, The Music Room and The Vault Bar.
