Founders of Country Creatures, Sam and Georgie Pearman have opened The Double Red Duke, a 17th century coaching inn with rooms in the village of Clanfield in the Cotswolds.
The Double Red Duke comprises 19 rooms with a contemporary restaurant centred around open-fire cooking.
In the dining room, a kitchen-counter overlooks bespoke built rotisseries and wood-fired grill, whilst the garden room seats 40 guests, as well as an adjacent private feasting room.
Richard Turner, founder of Hawksmoor and Meatopia, has collaborated with Sam Pearman and Head Chef, Richard Sandiford, to create a hearty menu with the emphasis on cooking over fire using seasonal, British produce.
Guests can choose from large cuts of meat and whole fish dishes to share, paired with a selection of seasonal accompaniments.
Signatures dishes include Milk and Honey Lamb Chops with Pea and Haggis Salad, Spit Roast Turbot with Lemon Ketchup and Cheese and Onion Tart Tatin.
Sunday lunch will offer options such as Saddle of Lamb, Spit Roast Pancetta and Prime Rib of beef. Guests can also for sharing dishes served on a trencher with duck fat potatoes, braised carrots and spring greens, while desserts include Strawberry Sunday and Sticky Toffee Apple pudding served with clotted cream.
The Double Red Duke will join the Country Creatures family of pubs and inns, including The Chequers in Churchill and The Swan in Ascott-under-Wychwood.
