The Biltmore Mayfair, LXR Hotels & Resorts, has announced the launch of The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace by Jason Atherton.
Opening its doors on 21 April, The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace has been designed as an elegant escape amongst the bustle of vibrant Mayfair. The 70-capacity terrace is surrounded by foliage-covered walls, cushioned seating and heaters.
Having opened fine dining restaurant, The Betterment, at The Biltmore Mayfair in 2019, celebrated British chef Jason Atherton of The Social Company has brought together a seasonal menu made for sharing.
In contrast to the elevated, fine-dining dishes The Betterment is known for, The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace will offer a more casual take on world favourites.
On the menu, cured Loch Duart salmon with ponzu dressing, lime, coriander and chilli, and Dorset crab on toast with confit lemon, natural yoghurt and sourdough are both fresh and light, whilst steamed south coast mussels with arbequina olive oil provides a more indulgent choice.
Other dishes include buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with Churchill sauce in a brioche bun and grilled Dover sole with capers, lemon & parsley and citrus hollandaise.
For a sense of the Mediterranean in the heart of Mayfair, homemade pasta and wood-fired pizza is the dish of the day. Highlights include homemade penne, nduja, mascarpone & lemon and pizza topped with taleggio, red onion, Parma ham and rocket.
To round off the meal, Atherton’s summer puddings include lemon tart with yoghurt sorbet and a rich Valrhona chocolate moelleux with milk ice cream.
Meanwhile, the cocktail list encompasses creations such as The Biltmore Spritz with Amaro Mondino, Belsazar Dry, lime, rosemary water and tonic – an ode to English summer gardens, whilst Sebastián’s Sunset with Gin Mare, Pedro Ximenez, dry vermouth, bitters and tonic takes guests on a journey to northern Spain.
Lilac sunsets are poured into Violet Sky with sloe gin, Belvedere Vodka, violet, lemon, sugar and egg white, and non-alcoholic concoctions include Spiced Mandarin, featuring Seedlip Spice 94, oolong tea, mandarin, lime, rosemary, agave and ginger beer.
Jason Atherton comments, “After months at home, I wanted to create the opportunity for people to socialise once again, and the beautiful surroundings of The Biltmore Mayfair – with an outdoor terrace now almost double the size of its previous form – was the perfect place to realise this.”
He adds: “It offers escapism, but at the same time, a much-needed return to the familiar. I hope people will enjoy the relaxed café-style menu we have created for The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace, whether it’s for a casual meet-up amongst friends or to celebrate a special birthday that was missed. We cannot wait to bring people back to Mayfair.”
The Café Biltmore Restaurant & Terrace will open with outdoor seating only on 21 April. Following the anticipated lifting of government restrictions on indoor hospitality on 17 May, indoor seating will become available. The Biltmore Mayfair hotel will also open on 17 May.
