Maisons & Hotels Sibuet’s iconic island hideaway, Villa Marie Saint Barths will reopen with an all new bohemian-inspired beach hang out, Gyp Sea Beach Club.
Located at the far end of the iconic Saint-Jean beach, just a short drive from the hotel, the beach club, which will open in December, will encompass a restaurant, rum bar and boutique, with a design that reflects a laid-back Caribbean feel that is in keeping with its tropical surroundings.
Led by a Bohemian design palette, the restaurant space has been adorned with shades of blue, reflecting the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean. Featuring Indigo tie dye blended with raw denim and vibrant ultramarine coral-patterned fabrics, as well as faded blue cashmere and mismatched cushions, the design is both effortless and luxurious.
Meanwhile, almost every dish on the al-fresco menu is roasted, smoked, grilled or braised on the wood-fired grill, using locally sourced and seasonal produce. Guests can choose from a number of paired-back, rustic dishes including grilled avocado salad, Jamacian-style jerk chicken and freshly caught rock lobsters. Hot from the grill, signature plates of smoked rib of beef and charred vegetables with za’atar spices with aioli and lemon confit, reinforce the concept, while tropical desserts such as rum-roasted pineapple and caramelised bananas, ensure the evening ends on a sweet note.
Over at The Rum Bar, golden-hour glamour meets sophisticated sundowners, with cocktails served up by a resident mixologist using rums exclusive to the island. Guests can also choose from a range of healthy fresh-pressed juices and colourful smoothies whilst they soak up the view. The bar also features its own cigar cellar with an extensive selection of fine cigars.
