Quinta do Lago announces new Executive Chef
The luxury Mediterranean resort of Quinta do Lago has appointed Gareth Billington as its new Executive Chef following its latest gourmet revamp and restaurant renovation.
Billington’s appointment coincides with the resort’s renovations to its Casa do Lago restaurant and clubhouses as part of its greater focus on its gastronomic offering and commitment to sustainability.
With over 30 years’ of experience in the hospitality industry, Billington has worked for a number of highly regarded establishments including The Garrick Club London, Fairmont Southampton Bermuda and Royal Ascot and has spent much of his career training the next generation of talented chefs, earning him the prestigious Craft Guilds of Chefs People’s Choice award for his work within the industry.
“Quinta do Lago has a renowned reputation all over the world so to become part of the team here is an honour. The vision to keep improving year on year shows a team that is consistently working to meet and exceed customer expectations,” says Billington.
Part of his role will be to assist the F&B team with its ongoing commitment to sustainability, challenging suppliers to ensure they are providing the best locally sourced produce whilst also reducing the resort’s carbon footprint and work with regional producers.
Quinta do Lago recently unveiled it revamped Casa do Lago restaurant, following a £1.25million renovation. The transformed seafood restaurant, situated in the heart of the Algarve now showcases a refreshed, nautical aesthetic, inspired by its lakeside view.
