A getaway is off the cards. And your favourite bars and restaurants are closed. But there’s still hope, thanks to Ovolo Hotels’ new Restaurant in Room concept.
Initially offered at Canberra’s Monster Kitchen & Bar at Ovolo Nishi last month, guests can book Restaurant in Room on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for private dining only, or with the addition of an overnight stay. Guests have the choice of set menus in the Nishi Apartments by Ovolo, with rooms catering for two diners.
Ovolo will look to launch the concept across its other venues in Australia as the various State Governments begin to relax social distancing restrictions. These include Alibi Bar & Kitchen’s innovative plant-based dining in Sydney and Za Za Ta in Brisbane, the latter serving Middle Eastern cuisine under the helm of Executive Chef Roy Nor.
“While we wait for the landscape to change and return to levels of normality, we want to keep the wheels turning for staff, friends and colleagues in the industry, it’s a time adapt and evolve,” says Group Food & Beverage Director, Vince Lombino. “We already pivoted with our takeaway concepts Alt Ctrl Eat by Alibi and Deli by Monster, but now we have rooms to fill, so welcome Restaurant in Room!
“To take this concept to the next level, we are even looking to collaborate with our Creative Culinary Partner, Ian Curley from French Saloon, at Ovolo Laneways in Melbourne and even one step further working with our fellow restauranteurs to potentially do pop-up Restaurant In Rooms.”
