Located in the capital’s historic Georgetown neighbourhood, Cut Above, a rooftop bar within residential-style retreat hotel Rosewood Washington D.C., offers reprieve from the bustling city below.
Completed in Spring 2019, New York-based Lillian Wu Studio (LWS) led on the design of the rooftop bar, which features whimsical and modern outdoor furniture by Kettal and Gloster and accessories by Sien + Co, which work together to create a residential living room aesthetic.
Creating an intimate outdoor garden feeling, lucious boxwood planters line the rooftop while existing canopy posts have been adorned with olive green marine rope to reflect the natural environment. A sunbrella striped canopy covers the space and provides a touch of intimacy.
When dusk approaches, comfy couches by Teak Warehouse and decorative light fixtures, including solar rechargeable lanterns from Gloster, give the space a soft, glowy vibe.
With F&B overseen by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck, guests can choose from an abbreviated menu of elevated bar fare featuring small bites including Boston Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, Black Rock Orchard Tomato Salad and Crispy Fish Sliders. Accompanied by Cut Above’s signature cocktails, this hidden oasis is the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the city’s iconic skyline.
